ETCIC is looking for key collaborative partnership opportunities to harness the latest rounds of European Union funding for environmental activities. The Framework Programme is the European Union's main funding mechanism for collaborative research projects across the areas of science, technology and engineering. The latest stage of the Framework Programme, Framework Programme 7 (FP7) is expected to start in 2007 and run through to 2013. Under FP7, approximately €9,500 million (13% of the total budget) will be available for research projects into issues around the environment and energy. ETCIC brings together academic expertise and state of the art facilities, primarily from the Departments of Geography, Chemistry and Biology, to research areas of interest in environmental technology. At this early stage, ETCIC is keen to start discussing possible funding options with potential partners based within the European Union, with regard to developing project proposals in environmental technologies. These projects would typically fall into the collaborative research category within the co-operation research programme. However, potential projects within the people research programme that involve transfer of personnel between academia and industry and deliver benefit to the European Union are also welcome. Aspects of research within ETCIC are waste management, remediation of contaminated, environments, processing of organic waste materials, wave & tidal power and environmental regulatory issues. Any potential partners, or enquiries about the programme, should be directed to Dr David Calvert. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it |
