There is no doubt that Professor Lynne Frostick's work has been of incredible value to the University of Hull, given her wealth of knowledge and expertise in environmental sciences. So, it is hardly surprising that the ETCIC's very own 'environmental superwoman' has recently been recognised by the Nominating Council for the prestigious 2006 Women of the Year Awards which will take place on Monday 16 October 2006 at The Millennium Mayfair in London. Hailed as one of the most significant assemblies of women, the lunch will bring together outstanding women from all walks of life and has secured Martha Lane Fox, founder of lastminute.com and Director of Channel 4 Television, as guest speaker. Lynne commented: "It is a huge compliment to be selected as a woman of achievement and I am particularly looking forward to meeting women from all over the world who have been recognised for their talents and success." As well as establishing ETCIC, Lynne is also Director of the Interdisciplinary Hull Environment Research Institute (HERI), which carried out much of the fundamental research which is then applied by the ETCIC team. She also chairs the governments Implementation Group for Women in SET and is passionate about getting more women into science and engineering. Having published over 100 papers on a range of environmental problems and editing four books, Professor Frostick also acts as Research Director for the large experimental research flume at The Deep, Hull's submarium and continues to tackle a number environmental issues through her current projects. |
