ETCIC scores grant funding success
Tuesday, 26 September 2006

ETCIC has secured grant funding to drive forward design services for environmental activities.

The funding has been awarded by Recycling Action Yorkshire (RAY).

Recycling Action Yorkshire is a not-for-profit, regional programme funded by Yorkshire Forward and the European Regional Development Fund. RAY works in partnership with national and regional stakeholders to stimulate the market for recycled materials throughout the recycling chain from collection and reprocessing, to manufacture and sustainable procurement.

The funding secured by ETCIC for Leeds-based company, Mytum & Selby will enable the development of advance composting technologies, which will be employed at the company's Maltings Facility located on the outskirts of Leeds.

The need to treat additional quantities of organic waste is a response to increasing legislative pressures. Mytum & Selby is leading the way in the development of an in-vessel composting process, using varied organic wastes sourced by the company.

"We are delighted to support ETCIC's and Mytum & Selby's programme...", states Matt Hill, Project Manager of Organics at Recycling Action Yorkshire. "...We were particularly interested in the tremendous potential in the project put forward to us for support, for what will no doubt be a state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Yorkshire", he added.

The Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical, better known as the REACH Regulation, comes into force on the 1st June 2007 and will impact not only chemical manufacturers, but all companies who use and import chemicals. Compliance is essential and those who plan ahead will be the ones able to minimise the costs of the process.
