University of Hull
Access the Total Environment Simulator
Friday, 24 November 2006

The University of Hull's Geography Department is delighted to be a part of the HYDRALAB III consortia, which intends to bring skilled researchers from across Europe to the “world class” top level of research in unique experimental facilities.

Experiments in hydraulics are fundamental for creating the necessary tools for predictions of important phenomena such as flooding, coastal inundation, water quality in rivers, estuaries, coastal and marine areas, ship design and ice-engineering.

Over the recent past numerical modelling has become a powerful tool in making these predictions. Nevertheless, field experiments and experimental laboratory research are indispensable to the synergistic approach of hydraulic research.

HYDRALAB III is funded through the European Framework 6 programme and will establish a series of virtual European laboratories dealing with hydraulics. The Total Environment Simulator (TES) based at the Deep will be a part of this network. For more details on the programme please contact Stuart McLelland.
