ETCIC is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Hansell as the Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) Associate at Mytum & Selby. The KTP programme recruits high calibre graduates and places them typically for two years in the partner company. The associate has both a company supervisor, in this case Steven Carrie, and an academic supervisor, Dr John Adams who typically spends half a day with the associate on site to assess progress. Sarah joins with a BSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of Manchester and her work will focus on the optimisation of the in-vessel composting process at the Maltings, an old John Smiths facility purchased by Mytum & Selby. During her tenure Sarah will also undergo management training and at the end is expected to apply for a Masters Degree. Now a month into her placement, Sarah commented, "I am delighted to be working on this project which will be so beneficial to the community and the environment. The KTP is a great scheme to transfer knowledge from academia to industry and vice versa. I can already see the benefits this is having for all concerned." |
