The first module of the Postgraduate Certificate in REACH Management, entitled 'The Regulatory Framework and REACH Project Management' is now open for bookings.

reach-management

Aimed at those in industry charged with planning for REACH compliance, the first module sets the scene for the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals Regulations (REACH) by providing an overview of the legislative background that led to its development. Delegates will then learn about how to make an initial assessment of the implications of REACH through the whole supply chain and how it links with classification and labelling according to the GHS system.

The module takes the form of five taught days by leading experts in the field of regulatory management. For those wishing to use this as part of the whole course, assessment will take place both during the sessions and as an assignment after the module. The cost for the whole course is £4000 plus VAT. Alternatively, those seeking a comprehensive introduction to the regulation and how this can be managed are able to take the module as a stand-alone training week. The cost for this is £1200 plus VAT.

The full programme for the week is:

  • Day 1 – Introduction to Chemical Supply Regulations: The transition from the old framework into REACH
  • Day 2 – An Overview of REACH: Initial impact assessment and who it will affect
  • Day 3 – REACH through the Supply Chain: Impact on manufacturers, importers, traders, formulators and users
  • Day 4 – GHS Classification and Labelling: New proposed system to replace hazard symbols and risk and safety phrases
  • Day 5 – REACH Project Management: Administration and Management tools to comply with REACH

The regulation comes into force on June 1st, and this module will run for the first time on Monday June 4th. The second running of the module is planned for Monday July 2nd.
