REACH breakfast update

The Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical, better known as the REACH Regulation, comes into force on the 1st June 2007 and will impact not only chemical manufacturers, but all companies who use and import chemicals. Compliance is essential and those who plan ahead will be the ones able to minimise the costs of the process.

Humber Chemical Focus (HCF) and The Environmental Technologies Centre of Industrial Collaboration (ETCIC), based at the University of Hull, are holding a free breakfast briefing session to inform companies of the current situation regarding REACH. Delegates will hear about the basics of compliance from a representative of CIA's REACHReady programme, learn about industry can approach a REACH programme and also how local networks can help with this process.

New KTP associate starts work at the maltings

ETCIC is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Hansell as the Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) Associate at Mytum & Selby. The KTP programme recruits high calibre graduates and places them typically for two years in the partner company. The associate has both a company supervisor, in this case Steven Carrie, and an academic supervisor, Dr John Adams who typically spends half a day with the associate on site to assess progress.
