New Commerical Manager for ETCIC

Dr David Calvert has been appointed commercial manager of the Environmental Technologies Centre for Industrial Collaboration (ETCIC) at The University of Hull, taking responsibility for bringing the team's extensive knowledge and expertise to the attention of relevant industries, particularly those in Yorkshire and the Humber.

Dr Calvert will join the ETCIC team, which comprises Centre Director - Professor Lynne Frostick, Centre Deputy Director and Head of Chemistry - Professor Paul Fletcher and head of Biology - Dr Joerg Hardege.

With considerable experience developing new products and markets, both nationally and internationally, within the technology sector, Dr Calvert will be establishing contacts and networks to ensure that ETCIC delivers innovative solutions to industry. He will focus particularly on the chemical, renewable energy, waste management and marine pollution sectors.

Dr David Calvert will also be introducing relevant businesses to the Total Environmental Simulator in Hull's The Deep research and visitor centre. The unique "flume" simulator tests power generation through waves, tides and currents and evaluates alternative energy using modelling techniques.

He commented, "...I am delighted to join ETCIC as it brings the wealth of knowledge and expertise of the University, particularly in physical geography, chemistry and biology, to real world applications and its innovative services bring real benefits to the region."

Dr David Calvert's career spans national and international roles with major chemicals firms, including Dow Chemicals in Switzerland and Holliday Pigments in Hull and he has travelled across Asia and America promoting the benefits of cleaner technologies.
