Do you want more from your resources? Learn from people who've been there at a workshop during the ENTER THE FUTURE event at the University of Hull on Friday 14th September 2007. In this workshop you will hear from two major manufacturing companies who have made significant strides towards maximising the use of their available resources.
Louis’ role has been central to the development of the Programme where the company has benefited from substantial investment in knowledge and expertise as well as delivering tangible paybacks to the business. In the second talk, Saint Gobain Glass will discuss how sustainable business practice is a consistent thread through all of their business. Initially they will demonstrate how a new product development has led to a product range which, over it's entire life cycle, will be carbon positive. They will then go on to demonstrate how procurement of their raw material feedstock has resulted in a reduction in energy and transport costs. This reduced carbon footprint has also seen a significant improvement in their bottom line. Finally, Saint Gobain will discuss how they were able to implement an internal waste minimisation programme across the whole company which has seen waste disposed fall from 5000 tonnes per year to just under 2000 tonnes per year. Following the talks, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about the practical issues involved in embedding sustainable business practices within a company. |

In the first talk Louis Brimacombe will speak on how sustainable business is good business practice. Louis is the Manager of the Environment Department at Corus Research Development & Technology. Since the 1980's the Corus Environmental Programme has grown substantially to become one of the world’s leading examples in the application of business sustainability research and practice.
