University of Hull
GREEN STEM Keynote Speakers announced
Wednesday, 17 October 2007

Jean Lambert MEP and Andy Johnston of Forum for the Future have both agreed to make keynote addresses at the launch event of the GREEN STEM for the Future event at the University of Hull on October 29th.

Jean Lambert is the Green Party Euro-MP for London, and Vice President of the Green/EFRA Group in the European Parliament.  Jean was a teacher herself before becoming an MEP and believes education is key in 'climate proofing' the future. Speaking recently Jean stated "The EU's Sustainable Development strategy recognises the importance of education and training to ensure we provide all citizens with the key competences needed to achieve sustainable development."

"Teaching about climate change and working on the practical consequences has a real purpose and urgency. Education, across the age range really has the power to transform our lives and our world."

Andy Johnston works for Forum for the Future and has led their education programme for the past six years. This has included developing a curriculum tool for embedding sustainable development and the first sustainability reporting tool for universities and colleges. In recent years he has developed education for sustainability policy and worked with national implementation agencies including the National College for School Leadership.

The event is free to attend and you can register by contacting Klaus Selke on 01482 372677 or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
