ETCIC spreads the word of sound environmental practise to next generation
Tuesday, 04 July 2006

It is vitally important that the next generation realise the environmental impact of their activities as early as possible. ETCIC is always proactive in educating tomorrow's consumers of the consequences of their actions.

Dr David Calvert, Commercial Manager of ETCIC, was recently invited to judge entries from Cottingham High School students at the recent Science Fair.

Raising awareness of environmental issues with children of all ages, alongside stimulating interest in science as a discipline at an early age, is important to ETCIC.

Students from the school's years seven to nine had the opportunity to demonstrate some of their scientific skills to leading innovators at the event, including outlining their awareness of environmental issues.

The Science Fair asked students to prepare a project in one of a number of scientific categories.

Alongside ETCIC, additional support for the event came from BP, Smith and Nephew, Holliday Pigments, Hull College, the University of Hull, Humber Education Business Links and Humber Chemical Focus.

Dr Calvert had the opportunity to view the entries and question the students on the approaches used within their scientific investigations as part of the judging panel.

"It is now more important than ever that children understand the impact of their actions and consumption habits on our environment. These children are tomorrow's consumers and it is important that they understand the value of a sustainable environment. I was very encouraged by the environmental awareness of the students", stated Dr David Calvert, ETCIC Commercial Manager.
