ETCIC is delighted to announce that the whole of its REACH training course has now been approved by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
REACH is the new European Chemicals Legislation came into force on June 1st 2007. The Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals will have an impact, not just on chemical manufacturers in the European Union, but also all chemical users and importers. In June 2007, The Environmental Technologies Centre of Industrial Collaboration (ETCIC) based at the University of Hull launched the Postgraduate Certificate in REACH Management, a course which remains unique throughout the world. Since the initial launch more than 50 delegates from all around the world have attended the course and now it has been approved by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). Commenting on this approval Dr. David Calvert, Commercial Manager at ETCIC said “We are delighted that the IEMA has recognised the value of the course to its members and that during the assessment they commented very favourably on the flexibility of learning options which the structure offers.” Roy Anamaet, Training Team Leader of the IEMA, commented “We believe that our members will find many of the elements of this course to be of value in their ongoing professional development and were impressed by the industrial relevance of the training material”. The Postgraduate Certificate in REACH Management has been driven by industry requirements, is delivered by industry experts, and offers companies the flexibility to tailor their own training programme to deliver REACH compliance. The full qualification involves four taught modules, lasting one week each, and a company project. Modules are scheduled to run at regular intervals so delegates are able to train at a pace which meets their business requirements. The opportunity to choose a specific module, or even a number of individual days, was designed into the course at the outset to allow for ultimate flexibility. The four taught modules are entitled: • Module 1 - The Regulatory Framework and Project Management The next module 1 starts on Monday June 23rd .
